MOSCOW (AFP) Apr 24, 2003 An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale Wednesday shook the Russian Pacific peninsula of Kamchatka, but there were no reports of casualties or damage, the ITAR-TASS news agency reported.
It said the epicenter of the quake was about 10 kilometers (six miles) east of the peninsula.
Russia's emergencies ministry has warned residents of the risk of possibly devastating earthquakes in the region in the coming years.
