The anonymous backers of Celiberal.com calls antiwar notables "celiberals" -- for "celebrity liberal" -- and wants them blacklisted.

"We do our best to expose these celiberals for what they really are: money-hungry, two-faced, elitists who take unfair advantage of their popularity to express their controversial viewpoint," the site says.

"We want these celiberals to know that when they make their controversial comments, they are not speaking for all Americans.

"How do we communicate this message to the celiberals? We simply stop buying or renting their movies, music albums, books and the products or services they endorse."

The website's owners did not respond to AFP's requests to identify themselves.

More clearly identified were the antiwar stars: Alec Baldwin, Barbara Streisand, Dixie Chicks, Dustin Hoffman, Edward Norton, George Clooney, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Madonna, Martin Scorsese, Martin Sheen, Oliver Stone, Richard Gere, Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon, along with samples of their antiwar messages and products the website owners would boycott.

Many actors and musicians say they are targets of boycotts because they opposed the war.

Actor Martin Sheen said a large number of television viewers asked the NBC network to remove him from "The West Wing" show on which he plays the president.

Country music group the Dixie Chicks are reeling from a boycott after one of the singers expressed her shame that she and US President George Bush were fellow Texans.

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins became some of the most visible targets, having been scratched from scheduled events. Sean Penn said he lost a movie role because of his activism.

Madonna canceled the launch of an antiwar video and Dustin Hoffman bowed out of a speech he was to give to an antiwar forum in Los Angeles.

The Screen Actors Guild, the union of television and film actors, even issued a statement rejecting any hint of a blacklist by the film studios.

However, little can be done about furious conservative website owners calling for boycotts.
