Faulty grenade launcher kills three US marines in Iraq
AS-SALIYAH, Qatar (AFP) Apr 23, 2003 Three US marines were killed and seven others injured when a rocket-propelled grenade launcher they were using for practice malfunctioned and exploded, the US Central Command (Centcom) said Wednesday.
Centcom said the incident occurred Tuesday near the southeastern Iraqi city of Al-Kut.
The names of the soldiers, from the First Marine Expeditionary Force, were withheld pending next of kin notification.
