Number of US war dead rises to 125
WASHINGTON (AFP) Apr 17, 2003
The toll of US military dead in Iraq rose to 125 Wednesday, according to the Pentagon.

Of the total US dead, 107 fell to enemy or friendly fire. Eighteen others died in accidents since the war began on March 20, said Lieutenant Colonel Rivers Johnson, a Pentagon spokesman.

US wounded numbered 495, he said.

Three US soldiers were reported missing, a category that generally means it has not been determined definitively whether they are dead or captured.
