WASHINGTON (AFP) Apr 15, 2003
Six F-117A Nighthawk stealth fighter jets returned to the United States on Monday, after "completing their mission" in Iraq, their home base in the southwestern state of New Mexico said.

The jets landed at Langley Air Force Base in the eastern state of Virginia, after an eight-hour flight from an undisclosed overseas location, Holloman Air Force Base said in a statement.

A spokesman for the 49th Fighter Wing declined to say how many of the jets remained overseas, but the statement said their were expected to return over the next few days.

About 300 people were deployed from Holloman to support the F-117 missions in Iraq, the statement said.
