Marine helicopter crashes in Iraq

A Marine AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter crashed Monday during combat operations near Samarra, Iraq but the pilot and co-pilot were recovered with minor injuries, the US Central Command said.

"The incident was not the result of hostile fire," the command said, adding that it was under investigation.

The attack helicopter was engaged in combat operations when it went down, the command said.

"The pilot and co-pilot were recovered and suffered minor injuries," it said.
