Some Iraq leaders captured as they tried to flee Iraq - Franks
WASHINGTON April 13 (AFP) - (AFP) Apr 13, 2003 Some Iraqi leaders have been captured by US-led forces as they were trying to flee Iraq and are being held in the western part of the country, the commander of US forces in Iraq, General Tommy Franks, said Sunday.
"I will say coalition forces and some Iraqis with whom we have contact have taken some people trying to escape from Iraq," he told Fox News television.
He gave no details on their identity but said: "They're in western Iraq."
