First police car on streets of central Baghdad since regime collapse
BAGHDAD (AFP) Apr 12, 2003
The first police car returned to downtown Baghdad Saturday since the Saddam Hussein regime's collapse three days earlier, an AFP correspondent said.

Three civilian officers were on board.

Baghdad has been ravaged by looting sprees since US troops entered the center of the capital Wednesday and all order crumbled.

Earlier Saturday, seven Iraqi police officers and some 150 professionals turned up in response to a US appeal to help restore order and services.
