US general says no curfew has been imposed in Iraq
AS-SALIYAH (AFP) Apr 12, 2003
A US general said Saturday coalition forces had not imposed a curfew in Iraq, but he did not rule out the possibility that they might still doing so.

The US-led forces "did not impose a curfew," Brigadier-General Vincent Brooks told reporters at the Central Command's forward planning base in Qatar.

"Whether one is imposed or not is a tactical decision," that could vary from city to city, he said.

His remarks came amid mounting concern over lawlessness in Iraq, where several cities have been plagued by heavy looting in recent days.
