BAGHDAD (AFP) Apr 12, 2003
The journalist whose body was retrieved by US marines at a Baghdad hospital had been killed by US tank fire at a media hotel here on Tuesday, US military officials said Saturday.

Two cameramen, Taras Protsyuk, 35, from the Reuters news agency, and Jose Couso, 37, of Spanish television station Telecinco, were killed at the Palestine Hotel in an incident that triggered a torrent of criticism from international media watchdogs.

The US Central Command said in a statement in Qatar that US marines had retrieved the body of a dead journalist Friday. It did not say which.

The statement said the marines had also transferred two injured journalists to a field hospital.

A fourth journalist, who was uninjured, was also found at the hospital.
