UN must play "central role" in post-war Iraq: Chirac
SAINT PETERSBURG (AFP) Apr 11, 2003 French President Jacques Chirac on Friday reiterated that the United Nations should play a "central role" in post-war Iraq, after talks here with the leaders of Russia and Germany.
"The United Nations should play a central role" in the reconstruction of Iraq following the US-led toppling of Saddam Hussein's regime, the French leader told reporters in Saint Petersburg.
