BEIJING (AFP) Apr 11, 2003
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Friday talked by telephone with US Secretary of State Colin Powell, discussing the Iraq war and the need to strengthen communication between the nations, state media said.

"The two sides agreed that in view of the rapidly changing international situation, it is important for the two nations to strengthen communication and coordination," Xinhua news agency said.

Li and Powell discussed bilateral ties and Iraq's situation and postwar construction, according to the agency.

They also exchanged views on a peaceful solution to the North Korean nuclear issue through dialogue, Xinhua said.
