Iraqis surrender Mosul: KDP

Commanders of the Iraqi army in Mosul formally surrendered to US forces there on Friday, a spokesman for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) said.

"There has been an accord between the United States and the Iraqi commanders, Hoshyar Zebari told AFP in Arbil by telephone from here.

Earlier, Major Rumi Nielson-Green told AFP at the Central Command base in Qatar that "Mosul and Kirkuk have fallen," while coalition spokesman Brigadier General Vincent Brooks said that "a coalition special operations commander accepted a signed ceasefire agreement from the Iraqi 5th Corps commander regular army near Mosul."
