Iraqi forces in Mosul getting chance to surrender: Rumsfeld

Regular Iraqi army forces have been given an opportunity to lay down their arms and surrender in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Thursday.

"Within recent hours, I am told that in Mosul there appears to be an opportunity for the regular Iraqi forces to turn in their weapons and no longer pose a threat," he said.

"In which case, Kurdish forces and US forces are in the process of moving into Mosul," he said.
