The request, filed Wednesday, was to have been taken up Friday, spokesman Richard Syndenhan said.

"This morning, the chairman of the General Comittee announced that the pospotment had been requested of the Arab group...for the inclusion of a new agenda item under the situation in Iraq," Syndenhan said.

"There would therefore not be a meeting tomorrow morning as had been previously announced," Syndenhan said.

An Arab League spokesman could not be reached for comment.
