Bush, Blair to broadcast TV message direct to Iraqi people

US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair are to broadcast direct to the Iraqi people later Thursday on a new television station set up by coalition forces, Downing Street said.

The message, on a station called "Towards Freedom TV", will be broadcast from a specially-equipped US C-130 Hercules aircraft circling over Iraq, which will beam five hours of programming via the former Iraqi state television channel.

Blair and Bush recorded their contributions during their summit at Hillsborough Castle, near Belfast, on Tuesday, Downing Street said.
