The flooding, concentrated in the north and west of the country, followed days of heavy rainfall and caused disruption to roads, railways and electricity supplies, according to the reports.

The two men died when their car was crossing a bridge in the Dashkesan district of north-western Azerbaijan.

The vehicle was hit by floodwater, sweeping it into the river, Turan news agency reported.
