Iran blames coalition for death in missile blast
TEHRAN (AFP) Apr 09, 2003
Iran accused the US-British coalition Wednesday of having fired a rocket which killed a young Iranian near the border town of Abadan the previous day, state television reported.

The coalition was "responsible for violating Iranian airspace, and for the human and material losses," said a spokesman for the government's Iraq crisis committee, Seyyed Mohammed Sohofi.

Officials said Tuesday that 13-year-old Hossein Aridi was killed on a road near Abadan by a rocket probably fired by coalition forces in neighboring Iraq.

Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi has confirmed that two rockets hit the country during the first days of the war, one of which hit a depot at a refinery in Abadan injuring two people.

However, the Iranian press has reported up to two other rocket or missile explosions near the border.
