Jordan reinforces security around Iraqi embassy in Amman
AMMAN (AFP) Apr 09, 2003
The Jordanian authorities stepped up security around the Iraqi embassy and the ambassador's residence in the Jordanian capital on Wednesday evening, AFP correspondents said.

A special forces vehicle mounted with a machine gun was posted outside the embassy in Jebel Amman while another similar car was deployed in front of the resident of Ambassador Sabah Yassin, just over a mile away.

The move came as Baghdad fell into the hands of US-British coalition forces, virtually sealing the downfall of President Saddam Hussein's regime.
