Sri Lanka's foreign correspondents condemn journalist killings in Iraq
COLOMBO (AFP) Apr 09, 2003
Sri Lanka's Foreign Correspondents' Association Wednesday expressed dismay over the killings of journalists in Iraq and called for an independent inquiry.

"Shocked at the attack on a hotel in Iraq in which journalists were present, the Association highlights the need for an independent, impartial, civilian inquiry into the incident," the statement said.

So far 11 journalists have been killed while covering the three-week long war, including two on Tuesday when a US tank fired a shell at a media hotel in Baghdad.
