More than 7,000 Iraqis held as prisoners of war: US military

More than 7,000 Iraqis are being held as prisoners of war under British supervision, military officials at the war's command center in Qatar said Wednesday.

"At this point we have over 7,000 Iraqi prisoners of war," Brigadier General Vicent Brooks said at a US Central Command news conference.

British military spokeswoman Emma Thomas said all POWs held by the coalition forces were held in British-run detention camps.
