Anti-war protesters greet British princess in N.Ireland
BELFAST (AFP) Apr 09, 2003
Anti-war protesters demonstrated Wednesday as Britain's Princess Anne opened a new library at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland.

Just over a dozen people waving banners and blowing whistles gathered at the campus gates for Anne's arrival. Police said there were no arrests, but a banner objecting to the Iraq war was taken down.

The daughter of Queen Elizabeth II was on the second day of a visit to Northern Ireland, which Monday and Tuesday hosted a war summit between British Prime Minister Tony Blair and US President George W. Bush.

Members of the royal family have been making morale-boosting visits to military bases throughout Britain since the war began on March 20. The queen herself is officially the head of the nation's armed forces.
