France, Britain say Iraq urgently needs humanitarian aid
PARIS (AFP) Apr 09, 2003
France and Britain believe Iraq urgently needs humanitarian aid, French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said on Wednesday after meeting his British counterpart Jack Straw in Paris.

"We discussed the humanitarian crisis", de Villepin told a news conference. "The international community has to act to counter the humanitarian risk," he stressed, saying he hoped the United Nations would play a prominent role in post-war Iraq.

"I am pleased with this meeting, which comes after several difficult weeks between our two countries, even if dialogue has never stopped," he added.
