Death toll rises to seven in Israeli air strike on Gaza City
GAZA CITY (AFP) Apr 08, 2003
At least seven Palestinians were killed and nearly 50 wounded late Tuesday as Israeli F16 fighters and Apache helicopters carried out an air strike on central Gaza City, Palestinian medical sources told AFP.

Saadi al-Arabit, a local leader of Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades, armed wing of the Islamic radical movement Hamas, was among those killed in the double missile strike on a residential district, security sources said.

An aide was also killed, while women and children were among the 47 wounded, eight of whom were in critical condition, medical sources said.

The latest deaths bring to 3,139 the number of people killed since the September 2000 of the Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation, including 2,362 Palestinians and 719 Israelis.
