Romania's NATO accession to strengthen European stability: Hungary
BUDAPEST (AFP) Apr 08, 2003
Bringing Romania into the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation will boost the stability and security of the whole of Europe, Hungarian Foreign Minister Laszlo Kovacs said Tuesday.

Kovacs spoke during a courtesy meeting with visiting Romanian National Security Minister Ioan Mircea Pascu. He congratulated to Pascu after Romania signed a treaty on its NATO accession.

He added that the parliament of Hungary, which borders Romania and which joined NATO in 1999, would be certain to approve Romania's NATO accession.

Romania is one of seven countries that were invited to join NATO during a summit last November. The six others are Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
