Baghdad outskirts pounded again as warplanes swoop overhead
BAGHDAD (AFP) Apr 08, 2003
Coalition warplanes bombed the southern and southeastern outskirts of Baghdad on Tuesday afternoon following a four-hour break in the raids, an AFP journalist said.

The new bombardment began just after 5:10 pm (1310 GMT) and lasted about 20 minutes amid fierce fighting in the capital.

The planes dropped their payloads on the southern rim of the city, one of the areas most heavily targeted by coalition bombing since the war began March

No anti-aircraft fire was heard.
