Press hotel hit in central Baghdad

A high-rise hotel in central Baghdad housing journalists was hit during fighting in Baghdad on Tuesday, leaving at least three people wounded in a television agency office, an AFP correspondent said.

The 15th and 17th floors of the Palestine Hotel were struck, blowing out windows as fierce exchanges raged across the city on the 20th day of the US-led war.

A hole had been knocked into the hotel facade laying bare the metal structure of a column running past a balcony.

British information agency Reuters has its offices on the 15th floor.

Dubai's Al-Arabiya television channel said its bureau on the 17th floor also suffered damage.
