Iraqi state TV goes off air
BAGHDAD (AFP) Apr 08, 2003
Iraq's state-run television went off the air Tuesday as fierce fighting raged in the centre of Baghdad, AFP reporters said.

The broadcasts were interrupted at 10:30 am (0630 GMT).

Several brief outages have occurred in recent days as the assault on the Iraqi capital became more intense.

Baghdad's satellite television channel went down on Sunday night and Youth television, run by President Saddam Hussein's elder son Uday, has failed to broadcast since a missile struck the information ministry at the end of March.
