"This war is aggressive, unjust, illegitimate and unjustified, it serves only the interests of the countries that are leading it," Beshir said in a speech at the National Assembly (parliament), broadcast on state television.

He said threats have been made "beyond Iraq to other countries in the region", referring to US warnings to Iran and Syria.

"What further aggravates the anxiety of this threat is the deterioration of the the situation in the Palestinian territories and the rising rates of killing, displacement and repression" against the Palestinian people, Beshir said.
