US army completes its part of encirclement of Baghdad
SADDAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Baghdad (AFP) Apr 06, 2003
US army troops have fought their way to the Tigris river north of Baghdad, completing their portion of the encirclement of the capital, a US military official said.

"Marines continue to complete the encirclement of Baghdad," said Major Ross Coffman.

"The army owns from river to river on the west side," said Coffman, who serves at the Tactical Command Post of the Third Infantry Division, referring to the Tigris, which flows from north to south through the centre of the capital.
