AS SALIYAH, Qatar (AFP) Apr 05, 2003 A US military spokesman said Saturday that water supplies to the southern Iraqi city of Basra, broken off in the fighting, were now almost back to normal.
A water pipeline has been connected up to the town of al-Zubayr outside the city and the flow into Basra has now been "almost completely restored," Major General Victor Renuart said at the US Central Command base in Qatar.
