Six more US warships join Gulf armada
PORT SAID, Egypt (AFP) Apr 05, 2003
Six US warships have passed through the Suez Canal in the past two days to join the US fleet amassing in the Gulf for the ongoing war with Iraq, Egyptian port authorities announced Saturday.

The MV Capt Steven Bennett, carrying equipment bound for the US Air Force, passed through the waterway on Saturday, along with the pre-positioning ships PFC James Anderson and Strong Virginian.

On Friday, three other ships, including the USNS Denebola, carrying heavy equipment including helicopters and tanks, reached the Gulf from the Mediterranean.

At the same time, two US and two British ships made the journey in the opposite direction, joining the Mediterranean fleet, with American ships firing missiles on Iraq.
