WASHINGTON (AFP) Apr 05, 2003
Eight US soldiers ambushed last month with the recently rescued Private Jessica Lynch have been confirmed as killed in action, the Pentagon said in a statement Saturday.

The eight had been listed as "Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown" since their convoy was ambushed on March 23.

US forces also recovered a ninth body believed to be a US soldier but it had yet to be identified, Pentagon sources said. The bodies were discovered April 2 at Nasiriyah hospital during Lynch's rescue.
