BAGHDAD (AFP) Apr 04, 2003 Heavy artillery and other gunfire was heard in Baghdad at around 6:50 pm (1450 GMT) Friday, an AFP correspondent in the Iraqi capital reported.
It was the first time gunfire had been heard in the city, which has come under relentless bombardment, often met by anti-aircraft fire, since the US-led war was launched on March 20, the correspondent said.
