Here is a breakdown of casualty figures given by various sources for the US-led war in Iraq that was in its 16th day on Friday. Confirmation of the reports is often unavailable.


Iraq

The government and official media have given various figures for different parts of Iraq, often without specifying a time period or distinguishing between civilian and military losses.

An analysis of figures given by Baghdad indicates a minimum of 472 and a maximum of 844 Iraqis killed, and between 4,399 and 5,994 wounded.


US

According to US military:

41 killed in action

11 killed in accidents

Two killed by fellow US soldier

16 missing and 150 wounded.

These figures include the pilot of an F/A 18 fighter downed Wednesday, apparently by "friendly fire," but not the occupants of a Black Hawk helicopter shot down, killing an undetermined number of people, or three US soldiers killed Friday in a suspected suicide attack.
