Three soldiers, two others killed in checkpoint car blast: US

 Three coalition troops, a pregnant woman and the driver of her car were killed when the vehicle exploded as it approached a US checkpoint in Iraq, US Central Command said here Friday.

The woman stepped out of the car "screaming in fear," a statement said, causing coalition soldiers to approach the vehicle Thursday night not far from Hadithah Dam. The car then exploded.

The woman, the driver and three soldiers were killed. Two other coalition soldiers were injured, Centcom said.
