Fighter bombers from this US Navy aircraft carrier early Friday continued bombing missions that began more than 12 hours earlier in and around Baghdad's airport, a spokesman said.

"We did have aircraft directly involved with the events in and around Saddam International Airport," Lieutenant Brook Dewalt told reporters on board the USS Kitty Hawk in the Gulf.

Dewalt said fighter bombers targeted fuel and hangar facilities at the airport and also dropped 2,000-pound bombs on a nearby military complex.

He had no further details on the military complex.

In separate operations, naval forces in the Gulf region fired 35 more Tomahawk cruise missiles at targets in and around Baghdad during the previous 24 hours, Dewalt said.
