LONDON (AFP) Apr 04, 2003
While British voters feel the war is going better than it was a few days ago, the majority are still worried by several possible conseqences of military action in Iraq, according to a poll published Friday.

In a YouGov survey for The Daily Telegraph, the proportion thinking the war is going either "fairly" or "very" well has risen from 65 percent on Sunday to 78 percent.

At the same time the percentage of those who think the war will be over within a month has risen sharply, from 32 at the beginning of the week to 52 percent now.

However, the proportion of those who are "very" of "fairly" worried about the possible consequences of the war remains practically unchanged since the first poll on March 20.

Of those possible consequences, the British public was most concerned that the war would either lead to more terrorist attacks on Western attackspercent) or to more terrorist attacks in Britain (72 percent).

Concerns over the US ignoring the opinons or interests of other countries ranked next (64 percent), followed by the possibility that there would be an upsurge in worldwide Islamic militancy (63 percent).

YouGov sought the opinions of 1,087 adults across Britain on Thursday.
