US says air attacks have not targeted Baghdad power grid
WASHINGTON (AFP) Apr 03, 2003
The US Defense Department said Thursday it could not explain why the power has been cut in part of the Iraqi capital.

General Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a press briefing: "Central Command has not targeted the power grid."

US and British forces have pounded the capital for the past weeks, but the lights had remained on until Thursday.

Myers said the US military was also looking into the reasons for the power cuts.
