US military investigating friendly fire report: CentCom

US military authorities are investigating reports of a friendly fire incident involving US troops that left one soldier dead, the US Central Command said here Thursday.

A statement from the US military's forward planning headquarters said the incident was reported to have occurred between an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter aircraft and coalition ground forces.

"One US Army soldier is dead and several others are reported injured or missing in connection with the incident," the statement added.

It said further information would be released when available.
