US fighter jet shot down over Iraq: reports
WASHINGTON (AFP) Apr 03, 2003
 An F/A-18 Hornet fighter-bomber was shot down over Iraq, the US networks ABC and Fox News reported late Wednesday.

According to Fox News, the plane was brought down by a missile.

The jet was based on the US aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk, ABC News reported. There was no word on the fate of the pilot.

The US Defense Department would not confirm the reports.
