Bush tells Spain's Aznar Iraq war proceeding as planned

 US President George W. Bush on Wednesday told Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar that the military campaign in Iraq was proceeding as planned, government officials said on the 14th day of the US-led war.

The two leaders held a 40-minute telephone conversation analyzing developments in the conflict and progress made by US-led troops in their push to Baghdad, officials added.

Aznar and British Prime Minister Tony Blair are Bush's staunchest allies in the war launched to oust Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein for allegedly possessing weapons of mass destruction.
