British soldier killed in Gulf road accident
LONDON (AFP) Apr 02, 2003
A British soldier was killed Tuesday in a road accident involving a light armoured vehicle, taking to 27 the British death toll since the start of the war on Iraq 13 days ago, the defence ministry said.

It was "a road traffic accident, it involved a light armoured vehicle. We have no further details as yet," a defence ministry spokesman told AFP.

It was not known if the accident was in Iraq or Kuwait and no other details were available about the accident or the victim, the spokesman said.

Twenty six other British soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the war nearly two weeks ago, 15 of them in accidents. Five have been killed by friendly fire and five have died in combat. A bomb disposal soldier was killed Monday during an explosive ordnance disposal operation.
