Five Hungarians killed in early cold spell
BUDAPEST (AFP) Nov 07, 2002
Five people have died in Hungary since last week in an unseasonal cold spell, police said Thursday.

Most froze to death in the open air, including one in his own garden, as temperatures dropped below zero Celsius (32 Fahrenheit) at a time when the average temperature is around 11 degrees, a police spokesman said.

Alcohol consumption contributed to some of the deaths, he added.
