SpaceShipOne Completes First Of Two X Prize Flights

click for desktop version The world's first private manned spacecraft was launched Wednesday in a bid to snatch a $10 million prize aimed at kickstarting commercial space travel. SpaceShipOne reached 337,000 feet - high enough for the first of two X Prize qualifying flights - and landed 8.34 PDT (15.34 UTC) at America's first inland "Spaceport" at Mojave, California.
