WB Electronics of Poland and Thales have unveiled their tactical unmanned aircraft system offering for a Polish military contract.

The medium-altitude long-endurance system, displayed earlier this week at an international defense exhibition in Poland, is based on Thales' unarmed Watchkeeper system delivered to the British Army.

The Watchkeeper itself is based on a UAS system from Israel.

The WB Electronics/Thales solution, however, will integrate surveillance capability with strike capability through the use of Thales' freefall lightweight multi-role missile.

"Thales is committed to delivering the right solution for Poland's Gryf requirement," said Pierre Eric Pommellet, Thales executive vice president for defense mission systems. "Of course, the solution is not just about meeting the capability needs but delivering the solution through collaboration with Polish industry."

The partnership between the two companies was announced in July. Poland is expected to issue a contract for domestically produced UAS aircraft in the middle of next year.
