Department of Defense rolling stock surplus assets are for sale in mid-November in an online auction conducted by GovPlanet, an online marketplace.

The company, which has inspected the items for their operational condition, was contracted last July by the Defense Logistics Agency to manage and market the department's suplus rolling stock, which includes items such as trucks, forklifts and trailers.

"We are excited to bring our online marketplace and global buyer base to the government sector for used equipment, including the industry's only guaranteed inspection reports," said Gregory J. Owens, chairman and chief executive offficer of GovPlanet's parent company, IronPlanet. "With our nearly 15 years of online auction experience and a worldwide audience of more than one million registered users, we are looking forward to making it easier than ever to buy and sell used government equipment online."

More than 175 items are for sale on Nov. 19 and can now be previewed at the company website, GovPlanet.com. Each item listed includes its inspection report with a description of the equipment's condition and features.

Auctions of surplus DOD items are also scheduled for December, with online viewings available two-weeks prior to the event.
