Stephen Gibson Appointed Commercial Director of SSTL

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) has appointed Stephen Gibson Commercial Director effective 1st November with responsibility for contracts, sub-contracts, regulatory and insurance activities.

Stephen is no stranger to SSTL, having been involved in the acquisition of SSTL and in developing the working relationship between SSTL and its new parent company EADS Astrium NV since October 2008, while employed by Astrium.

SSTL CEO Matt Perkins commented, "Stephen brings a wealth of commercial experience to SSTL that I believe will be of value as we take on larger contracts, expanding our role as the world's leading supplier of small satellite missions."

Stephen added, "During the past year I have gained a good understanding of SSTL's unique selling points. I am looking forward to joining the SSTL management team and helping to develop the company and its business processes to support our future growth."

Stephen was responsible for the commercial management of contracts with European Satellite Navigation Industries GmbH, prior to which he held positions responsible for contracts at Astrium SAS and EADS Astrium Ltd.

Since starting his career with Rolls Royce Nuclear Engineering Ltd he has occupied various positions with responsibility for commercial and contract management for BAE Systems, Marconi Avionics Ltd and Pilkington Optronics Ltd (Thales).
