Raytheon wins IDIQ contract for Army sensor systems

Research and development work on a variety of future sensor systems for U.S. Army platforms is to be conducted by Raytheon under a new five-year contract.

The TACOM Strategic Service Solutions multiple award is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, with a ceiling value of $634 million, was issued by the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Warren.

"This contract award represents a major milestone in Raytheon's efforts to deliver vehicle-borne sensors and effectors," said Tom Bussing, vice president of Raytheon's Advanced Missile Systems product line. "Our customer is one of the Army's largest weapon systems research, development and sustainment organizations as well as the center of excellence for the Defense Department in the area of ground vehicles and ground robotics."

Under the award, Raytheon's R&D work will cover sensors, fire control systems, active protection systems, and robotics and autonomous systems. Raytheon says it anticipates that the majority of the task orders it receives will be performed by its Missile Systems business in Tucson, Ariz.
