LGS Innovations completes upgrade of Army communications center in Kuwait

An upgrade of a U.S. Army communications center in Kuwait has been completed by LGS Innovations, it was announced on Tuesday.

The Main Communications Facility at Camp Ariana is a command, control, communications, and computer operations center and the information systems hub for Southwest Asia.

The MCF facility also provides the basis for the establishment of the Joint Information Environment for the U.S. Central Command.

The JIE, which will take separate networks within the Department of Defense and collect them into a shared architecture, is expected to reach full capability between 2016 and 2020.

"The safety of our troops and success of the federal government missions depend on reliable, versatile and secure communications," said LGS Innovations Chief Executive Officer Kevin Kelly. "LGS is proud to support our troops and the federal government in their network infrastructure modernization efforts so that they can focus on their missions rather than worry about network issues."

LGS Innovations engineered, supplied, installed and secured the Army's extensive network, transmission, and voice infrastructure to allow for the migration of all existing services to the new MCF.

"Camp Ariana is used as a logistics base for the entire Southwest Asian theater so it was imperative that the facility expanded to meet the need for increased information exchange," said Jeff Fischer, LGS Technical Manager for MCF. "It is also a significant step forward toward realizing the JIE, which will enable all DOD personnel too securely and reliably access the network from any approved device no matter where they are."
